Weather

Gipuzkoa has an oceanic climate with rainy winters, abundant sirimiri – the Basque version of drizzle – and increasingly drier summers. The temperate climate affords mild winters with virtually no snowfall or frost, especially along the coast, and warm dry summers cooled by delightful breezes. The average temperature is 20ºC in summer and 8ºC in winter.

The best time of year to visit either the coast or inland Gipuzkoa is between May and October, with June and September being the best months in terms of both weather and lodging availability.
